The Church of the Holy Child
Holy Child was established as a parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Scranton on September 17, 1953. 47 years prior to that Holy Child was a mission of St. Andrew's Church of Blossburg, Pennsylvania and served by the priests assigned there.
The original church on the east side of S. Main Street (now an apartment building) was replaced by the new Church of the Holy Child, dedicated on September 25, 1963.
From 30 residential families and 90 college students in 1953, Holy Child has steadily grown and now ministers to over 360 families and an ever increasing number of Mansfield University students.

Holy Child Parish Mission Statement: United with the Pope, we the parishioners of Holy Child seek to be a welcoming church, which fosters spiritual development and expresses charity by living in word and deed the life of Christ. Under the leadership of the Bishop, our goals are to implement effective ministries through word, worship, and the sacraments, to enhance the spiritual growth of our parish family, and to encourage, through works of love and faith, the unity of the church.
